Downtown Ministries started as a football ministry through Redeemer.  Now, it is a non-profit in its own right reaching out and building relationships in urban Athens through sports programs, weekly tutoring, and facilitating Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children training. 

The purpose of Downtown Ministries is to create avenues of ministry to reach and equip people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bringing together local volunteers as coaches, tutors, and mentors has been a powerful way to build relationships in the context of community.  Currently, over 200 children from the urban areas of Athens have participated in an event sponsored by the Downtown Ministries. Each one of these kids represents a unique story and a specific need.
