The Downtown Falcons Sports Ministry began in 2003 with a single football team and a goal of creating relationships with our neighbors. Today, we have grown to four football teams, four basketball teams, two cheerleading squads, drumline and a tutoring/mentoring program.

The Downtown Ministries' purpose is to create avenues of ministry to reach and equip people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sports can bring people together from every background in a common purpose and goal and be a powerful instrument for the gospel. Currently, over 200 children from the urban areas of Athens have participated in a sporting event sponsored by the Downtown Ministries. Each one of these kids represents a unique story and a specific need.
